Prikkie helps you agree on a date with other people. This policy explains what we collect, why, who else sees it, and how to get it deleted. It describes what the app actually does — if you find something here that does not match what you observe, tell us and we will fix one or the other.
Prikkie is a free, non-commercial project — not a company. It is run and paid for by one person in the Netherlands, who is the controller for your personal data. There is no registered business behind it, nothing is sold, and there are no advertisers. You can reach the person responsible at the email address at the bottom of this page, and they will answer you directly.
From everyone, including without an account
You can use Prikkie without signing in. When you do, we create a random identifier for your browser or device so we can show you your own prikkies and let you edit them. We store the display name you choose, and the content of the prikkies you create or answer: title, emoji, description, location, the dates offered, any deadline, any poll question and options, and each person’s availability and optional message. We also process your IP address while a request is in flight, to apply rate limits; it is not stored.
If you sign in with Google
We receive your name, email address and Google account identifier so we can recognise you across devices. We never receive your Google password.
If you connect your calendar
With your explicit consent we request read-only access to your Google Calendar and read the calendars you select: event titles, times, descriptions and the email addresses of people on those events. This is used to show your existing commitments next to proposed dates. We store which calendars you selected and an access token; we do not store a copy of your calendar events.
If you turn on notifications
We store a push token for each device, the platform it belongs to, your language, and which of the three notification types you want. You can turn any of them off in the app.
We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising or profiling. We use the following providers to run the service, each under a data processing agreement:
Some of these providers are established outside the EU. Where that is the case, transfers rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
If you use the AI suggestion feature, the titles and times of the calendar events in the window you chose, the event type you typed and approximate coordinates are sent to Google’s Gemini model so it can propose suitable dates. Please keep that in mind if your calendar contains sensitive appointments. The feature is optional, runs only when you start it, and returns a list of dates. Nothing is sent unless you use it.
Prikkies and their answers are kept until you delete them or delete your account. Calendar tokens are deleted the moment you disconnect your calendar, and we revoke them with Google at the same time. Push tokens are removed when you turn notifications off, when you delete your account, or when the device stops accepting notifications.
You can delete everything yourself at any time — in the app under My profile, or on our deletion page. Deletion is immediate and permanent. If you email us instead, we handle it within 30 days. /delete-account
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
The fastest route for access and deletion is the app itself. For anything else, email us and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl), or to the authority where you live.
We only store what the service needs to work, which is why there is no cookie banner:
We use no advertising or tracking cookies. Page analytics is cookieless.
Data is sent over HTTPS and database access is restricted to the application. If a breach occurs that is likely to put you at risk, we will notify the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens and, where required, you.
Prikkie is not aimed at children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
If we change how we handle your data we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
